Queimada

The Queimada is a built brandy cocktail from Spain and Portugal. It is made with Orujo and coffee beans, served in a copper mug.

Galicia’s fire punch, traditionally burned while someone recites a spell against evil spirits.

Ingredients

Orujo60 ml (2 oz)
Sugar2 teaspoons
Coffee beans3 pieces

Measures for one serve. Open the drink in Bar Bible to scale it to a batch or switch to ounces.

Method

  1. In a wide clay pot, mix the orujo with the sugar, lemon peel and coffee beans.
  2. Light it and stir with a ladle while the sugar melts and the flame burns down, a few minutes.
  3. Put the flame out with the lid, ladle into clay cups. Never carry a lit pot, and keep it well away from anything flammable.
