Georgia Mint Julep in a rocks glass, drawn with its ingredient layers

Georgia Mint Julep

The Georgia Mint Julep is a built brandy cocktail. It is made with mint leaves, cognac and peach liqueur, served in a rocks glass over crushed ice.

Strength: about 28% ABV in the glass, roughly 24 g of alcohol per drink (an estimate; brands and dilution vary).

From Jerry Thomas’s 1862 bar guide, which called it the real Georgia mint julep: cognac and peach brandy, before bourbon took over. With modern sweet peach liqueur, a little less peach keeps it balanced.
