Coffee Cocktail in a coupe, drawn with its ingredient layers

Coffee Cocktail

The Coffee Cocktail is a shaken brandy cocktail, creamy. It is made with ruby port, cognac and whole egg, served in a coupe.

Strength: about 20% ABV in the glass, roughly 17 g of alcohol per drink (an estimate; brands and dilution vary).

From Jerry Thomas, 1887. There is no coffee in it: the name comes from its colour once shaken.
