Caribou

The Caribou is a built cocktail from Canada. It is made with red wine, rye whiskey and maple syrup, served in a wine glass.

The official drink of the Quebec Winter Carnival, carried around in hollow plastic canes. Three parts red wine to one of spirit, sweetened with maple.

Ingredients

Red wine90 ml (3 oz)
Rye whiskey30 ml (1 oz)
Maple syrup15 ml (½ oz)

Measures for one serve. Open the drink in Bar Bible to scale it to a batch or switch to ounces.

Method

  1. Stir the wine, rye and maple syrup together until the syrup dissolves.
  2. Serve over ice, or warm it gently without boiling and serve hot.
