Canelazo
Rum based, built, served in a copper mug.
The hot drink of the Andean highlands, sold on the street in Quito during the fiestas.
Ingredients
| Water | 120 ml (4 oz) |
| Brown sugar | 2 teaspoons |
| Cinnamon stick | 1 piece |
| Aguardiente | 40 ml (1¼ oz) |
Measures for one serve. Open the drink in Bar Bible to scale it to a batch or switch to ounces.
Method
- Simmer the water with the panela or brown sugar and the cinnamon for 15 minutes.
- Take it off the heat and add the aguardiente.
- Serve hot. Naranjilla or passion fruit juice in the pot is a common variation.
